Volunteer Opportunities

We are devoted to training youth to care for the community and take part in charitable work.

We provide opportunities for volunteers to:

  1. teach a variety of subjects and students.
  2. organize and lead activities, field trips and seminars for seniors.
  3. design and lead activities and field trips for children.
  4. attend training and workshops in hope of raising their leadership skills and helping them achieve their full potential.
  5. participate in social gatherings, learn to build team spirit, and expand their social circles.
  6. participate in fundraising activities for Light and Love Charitable Services.
  7. participate in short term mission trips and assist in helping the poor and teaching in developing countries.

Testimonials

Angela Lin (SFU)

The leadership workshop provided by Light and Love Home has really given me a different insight of the role of leaders. through the workshop, I have improved my public speaking skills, which helps me better present myself and convey information to the audience. this not only helps my presentation at school, but also enables me to successfully host variety shows and co-work smoothly with my partners.

Kerry Ko (UBC)

I enjoyed teaching Conversational English Class. helping seniors and new immigrants to learn English for daily conversational use was truly meaningful.

Betty Tam (SFU)

I have gained countless opportunities and experienced through the many programs and events. To help boost my teaching career, i volunteer as a teacher assistant in the Saturday tutoring program as well as the summer day camp. To widen my networking circle, i have befriended many other volunteers in this non-profit organization. Overall it has been a fun, reciprocating relationship with Light and Love Home, and I look forward to growing together some more in the future.

Sze Ching (Langara College)

I love volunteering at Light and Love Home because it is very meaningful. I have taught a lady Cantonese so that she could better communicate with her colleagues. i have also helped in the special events. When i saw the smiling faces of the seniors and children, i was satisfied by what i did. Moreover, volunteering at this organization is simple and easy. The coordinators are very nice and friendly. Our relationship is not "volunteer" and leader. Rather, we are friends. Light and Love Home is a big family more than just an organization to me!

Five Volunteers Featured in the Local Newspaper

"Earlier this year, five SFU students traveled to Cape Town, South Africa to support humanitarian projects in the township of Enkanini. That’s about as far as you can get from Vancouver, BC!" (SFU's Volunteer Services Blog)

These 5 volunteers supporting Light and Love Home's services in South Africa were also featured in the local 24 Hours newspaper this month! Click the image to the left to view the article.

We thank and appreciate all the volunteers who make all our services and programs possible!
