A Story of a Little Boy

Go Better Women's Group

In October, 2011, Light and Love Home established the Go Better Women's Group. Many mothers in our Saturday class students have registered as members. Each gathering is especially designed for the busy moms.Things we did included wholesale price fresh produce sale, idea exchange on raising children, aerobic dance, stretching exercise, dinner gathering, etc. These activities not only help our members relax a little from the hustle and bustle in life, but also cheer them on along the way. The benefits they gain also become a blessing to their own families.

Reaching Out to the Community

Light and Love Home Open House

On July 31, 2011, we had hundreds of people joining our Open House. Volunteers and summer day camp students provided us with wonderful performances. The lower grade students were so adorable when they danced on stage! Moreover, the food booths were crowded with many people love to taste various exotic food items. There were different booths that introduced our local and global services.

“The best part was the performances as all the different age groups went up to perform. From children, to youth, to elderly, they all performed really well…I am definitely looking forward to next year’s Open House” - Andy Leung (SFU).

“Wherever I went, I was greeted by enthusiastic volunteers serving and smiling…it is truly unforgettably heart warming.” – Rex Fong (SFU)

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the following associations who participated in this event: Love Your Neighbour Clubs from UBC, SFU and Langara College, Vancouver Seniors' Singing Club Association and Vancouver Chinese Senior Club. All proceeds were used to support and develop Light and Love Worldwide Charity Services.

Summer Day Camp 2011

Summer Day Camp is over! We conducted a graduation party at the end of August. Students' performance was unforgettable, and parents were the most enjoying audience.

Over 80 students joined our Summer Day Camp this year. Students enjoyed their time here a lot. Cooking class was the most popular. Students learned to make food such as sushi, bread, cookies, etc. The energetic boys joined soccer class and outdoor games. Apart from participating in different activities, students also learned academic subjects to prepare their next school year.

In addition, our volunteers gained valuable experiences in assisting class, leading activities and working with others as a team. Thanks to all volunteers who helped the day camp.
